Sometimes rooms are dedicated to one masterpiece so it is given its proper glory. Some artwork is so entrancing, people spend hours looking at it in awe of its strangeness.
People look at art because it’s extraordinary, strange, different, captivating, odd, unusual, they look at it because it stands out. “People don’t look at art because it’s perfect. The Truth About Art conveys the concept that compares people to art, practicing being true to one’s self especially as it guarantees degrees of flaws because what makes art art is its imperfections, prioritizing that over the pursuit of perfection, a clinical approach with almost unattainable goals that can dim the joys of living in the moment. However, while each and every poem has merit, some were better articulated than others. It’s a slim volume, has over a hundred individual poems. Having never read a comic book via an e-reader before I was surprised how well this concept works – this is especially so for those who own the more sophisticated devices but I imagine this comic could be read via any device with a screen.On the whole, I think it’s a pretty neat book. This may be a first in the genre of ‘Googleable fiction’ but I do hope there is more soon! I particularly enjoyed the ending which suggests this story could literally go anywhere afterwards.
Much of the artwork does the talking which is easy to follow, fun and very well done. The story then comes to life with some fast pace chasing in the form of parkour followed by introductions of our heroes who are looking to decipher the latest message. Who are they and what are their intentions? Are they ‘good’ or ‘bad’?
We are introduced to a world that doesn’t contain a lot of story based detail other than a short passage explaining an organisation that posts cryptic messages online. You’ll be wanting more by the time you reach the end of quite a short read but ‘Wild Embers’ makes for an intriguing experience that I imagine will get better as more issues arrive. A brief but intriguing premise complemented by great art work and a story full of mystery…
